Semiconductor Retrospective

Semiconductor have a solo show of films and interactive work in the digital studio of the ICA for the most of September. It is free with day membership. The retrospective will show all their work up to date including recent recordings from their live film performances and also access to their interactive projects and website. Also there will be a series of talks on and around their work.

Semiconductor

The Digital Studio presents the first retrospective of the work of Semiconductor, a collective known for their unique 'sound films', music videos and animations. Ruth Jarman and Joseph Gerhardt, (aka Semiconductor) describe their work as 'making films out of sound'. The exhibition features Semiconductor's highly acclaimed music videos for bands Dat Politics, Mum, Aco and QT. Semiconductor's recent DVD release Hi-Fi Rise - Sonic Cities From Another Timeline, one of the first independently produced short film DVD compilations in the UK will also be on show.

ART IN PUBLIC SPACE PROGRAMME

Once Seen is a programme of British video work curated especially for screening at the Video Gallery at Oslo Central Train Station (Oslo S) as part of the 'Art in Public Space' project in Oslo, Norway. The programme will be screened for one month starting October the 7th 2003.

Venice Biennale
The exhibition originates with ‘Absolut’ history of inviting artists to produce ‘Absolut Portraits’ since the 1980’s following the original by Andy Warhol. Semiconductor made a video artwork for their portrait and Richard produced a postcard of a photographic composition. Yet the exhibition went much further and featured specially made installations by artists from around the world.
